It's a sad day for the Simeon Career Academy community.
Former student and varsity football standout Demarius Reed was found dead of a gunshot wound early this morning near Eastern Michigan University's campus--where Reed attended school and played football.
His roommates discovered him around 7:15 a.m. in the hallway of their apartment complex with several bullet wounds and a number of personal items missing. The Chicago Tribune reports that police suspect Reed's death was the result of a robbery.
Reed attended and played football at Simeon before becoming EMU's fourth-leading receiver.
The 20-year-old's father, Carl Reed, was informed of his death by Demarius' coaches and girlfriend.
No arrests have been made in relation to his murder yet.
